Description
Praying the Scriptures is a collection of Bible passages that have been compiled to form a daily prayerbook. There are no man-made prayers in the entire book, only passages taken directly from the Word of God. This is a wonderful way to learn and memorize Scripture, hide the Word in your heart, and pray the Scriptures with others.
Growing up using a Jewish prayer book for liturgy I wanted to find something that fit my Christian faith. I turned to the common book of prayer but found too much of it to be man-made and theologically off. My searching also brought me to the Baptist denomination, but everything I could find was based on the Common Book of Prayer. I was tired of praying man-made prayer when the Word of God was available. Yet, no one had put together a prayer book that was simply Scripture.
I put together several Scripture passages for our Church to recite together. Over time, this book was compiled. There are no prayers included that are not taken directly from Scripture.
Since I celebrate a seventh-day Sabbath and find Christ to be the focus of the biblical festivals, I have included services for these events. Those who hold to a Sunday Sabbath will be able to use the Sabbath service for their worship time. Those who celebrate Easter will be able to use the Passover liturgy for their service, etc.
It is my hope that those who use this prayer book will find it enjoyable and edifying as they dive deeper into God’s Word.
